A Bill to protect the employment relationship of reservists

On June 18, 2008, David Whissell, Minister of Labour, tabled in the National Assembly Bill No. 98, an Act to amend the Act respecting labour standards mainly regarding reservists. The aim of the proposals put forward by the Bill is to preserve the employment relationship of an employee who is a member of the Canadian Forces Reserve by allowing him, under certain conditions, to be absent from work, without pay, for a period of up to eighteen months in order to take part in a mission abroad.
