Workers not contemplated by the National Holiday Act.

The National Holiday Act applies to the majority of Québec employees. However, some employees are excluded from this legislation:

  • self-employed workers within the meaning of the Act respecting labour standards;
  • the employees of the Canadian Armed Forces;
  • the employees of enterprises subject to the Canada Labour Code:
    • a) international and interprovincial services:
      • road transportation,
      • railways,
      • maritime and river transportation and related services,
      • telephone, cable and telegraph networks,
      • pipelines
      • ferryboats, tunnels and bridges;
      b) radio and television broadcasting including cable distribution with the exception of Télé-Québec;
    • c) air transportation, airplanes and airports;
    • d) banks;
    • e) grain elevators;
    • f) extraction and processing of uranium;
  • employees of an embassy or a consulate.
