Part III - National Holiday Act
The National Holiday Act was assented to and came into force on June 8, 1978. It was subsequently amended on various occasions. Sometimes, the sole purpose of the amendments was to ensure a certain conformity with the various pieces of legislation.
The National Holiday Act was amended by the Act respecting labour standards and other legislative provisions (2002, c. 80) assented to on December 19, 2002 and by the Act modifying the National Holiday Act and other legislative provisions (2007, c.4) assented to on June 8, 2007.
The 24th of June, St. John the Baptist Day, is the National Holiday.
