Do you believe that you were the victim of a prohibited practice?

Remember

  • You must have been working for your employer for at least 3 months to be entitled to be absent for a sick leave or following a crime
  • You have 45 days from the date of your dismissal or the measure taken against you to file a complaint with the Commission des normes du travail
  • If your employer wants to force you to retire and imposes sanctions on you because you refuse, the time period is 90 days

Meet with your employer

Clarify the situation and, wherever possible, resolve the problem.

This approach often allows you and your employer to settle the problem and to avoid having to file a complaint with the Commission des normes du travail. It is in your interest and that of your employer.

Obtain more information and, where applicable, file a complaint

If necessary, get in touch with the Service des renseignements for more information.

If the steps taken do not produce the desired results, file a complaint within the prescribed time periods to avoid losing your rights.
